This is an experiential abseiling course, designed to allow you as many descents as possible. The focus is on developing good abseil technique, safe practice, personal confidence, and having fun. You'll also get a chance to try out some rock climbing too!

The abseiling day commences with an introduction to the instructors and a general safety briefing. Then you are given a short overview of the equipment used during the program, a demonstration on how to fit your personal gear as well as abseiling techniques and further specific safety points. The high instructor to participant ratio (1:8) ensures the safety and quality of your experience throughout the day.

You are then closely supervised through a mock descent in which you learn about attaching to and disconnecting from the rope, safety calls, and the back-up braking procedure. Then it's off to the nursery slope for your first abseil.

As your confidence and skills develop under the encouraging direction of the instructors, you'll move on to more vertical and higher rock faces. Our aim is to help you develop the confidence to tackle the main face (approximately 50 metres) by the end of the day. Those of you seeking a further challenge may wish to attempt the exhilaration of forward run downs, (abseiling face first down the cliff).

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

Boya - approximately 30 minutes from Perth, WA.

Session Length

During the 1st November - 31 March this experience begins at 7am and concludes at 3pm. During 1st April - 31st October this experience begins at 8am and concludes at 4pm.

Guidelines:

The minimum age is 12 years, however participants under 15 must be accompanied by a paying adult. No previous experience is necessary as full tuition will be given. Professional instructors will be at hand at all times to ensure correct safety procedures.

Numbers:

There will be up to 16 to the group with 2 instructors.

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome to come along and bring a camera to catch the action.

Weather:

Unless you hear otherwise, assume the program will run. The weather will be closely monitored prior to and during the day so that participants are assured a safe and comfortable day. In the event of a cancellation, the experience will be rescheduled for a later date.

Other Info:

Please bring: packed lunch, snacks, at least 2 litres of water, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, rubber band to tie back long hair, comfortable footwear (runners or boots), rain jacket, thigh to knee length, camera, retainer strap for all glasses and sunglasses + spares if you depend on them.

    I thoroughly enjoyed my abseiling experience at Boya on Saturday 31 March. Disco and Bec were extremely well organised, provided expert tuition and took very good care of all participants throughout the day. My boyfriend and I did 7 abseils on the 3 sites during the day and got some great photos! We thought it was good value for money and look forward to taking on Bluff Knoll in the future! Many thanks to Disco and Bec :-)

    It was a fun day and awesome experience which helped me conquer my previous fear of heights. The Instructors (Disco & Bec) were fantastic, fun and very supportive. I plan on tackling the Bluff Knoll experience next.

    The day was an experience never to forget. Challenging, fun and rewarding. The instructors were fantastic encouraging, praising and fun, I felt safe at all times and it was a great adrenalin rush!
