If you’ve always wanted to learn the ropes, then this techniques course is not to be missed! Whether you have no experience in roping or abseiling or are a seasoned roping enthusiast, our experienced instructors will show you the techniques to ensure your safety in a hands-on environment!

The Single Rope Techniques (SRT) course is designed to build on your basic roping skills and experience and at the conclusion of the program you’ll be able to manage yourself safely and confidently in a vertical environment.

If you’ve heard of the terms 'lock-offs', 'self-rescue', 'one-on-one rescue' or 'change overs' or if you’ve ever wondered how to climb back up a rope when caught in space on an overhang, or abseil past the point where two ropes are joined, then this ropes experience is the perfect opportunity to learn all of this and more.

The one-day ropes course is structured to allow the maximum amount of hands-on time possible and to be flexible to your skill levels and requirements. Constant feedback on your development will be given throughout the course including a summary of progress by our experienced instructors at the conclusion of the program.

On this course you will cover the following content:

  • Equipment selection and application,
  • Site assessment and anchor points,
  • Knots and rope management - hand out notes supplied,
  • Rigging,
  • Refining abseil technique and improvised abseil systems,
  • Lock-offs during abseil,
  • Ascending - mechanical ascenders and prusik loops,
  • Changeovers - abseil to ascend and vice versa,
  • One-on-one and self-rescue technique,
  • Purchasing your own gear, and
  • How to further develop your skills.

We have a high instructor to participant ratio (1:6) that enhances the learning environment, safety and quality of your ropes experience throughout the day.
