Enter the world of the alchemist, melting and joining materials to create your own unique piece of jewellery. During the jewellery workshop, you'll gain a range of skills and finish the day with an individual, hand-made piece of jewellery you can proudly wear!

The relaxed atmosphere of your jewellery making workshop is set as you descend the driveway to the workshop location. The workshop is surrounded by bush on the edge of the National Park, teetering over the Valley of the Waters.

Your morning begins with an introduction from your tutor, Sondi, about her background and work, followed by a studio orientation. The rest of the morning will be spent learning basic skills such as sawing, filing, hammering and soldering. You will have immediate hands-on experience, with Sondi providing various demonstrations and imparting technical knowledge.

A light lunch is then provided for you to enjoy in the stunning bushland surroundings.

After lunch it is time to discuss what piece you would like to make. A ring tends to provide the most comprehensive use of skills that can be accomplished in one day, as well as providing a high degree of satisfaction. An alternative to this is generally earrings or a pendant.

After your silver piece is cut out and the basis of your structure made, the time will come to adorn it to suit your own style.

It is recommended that you bring some of your own familiar and well loved pieces as a springboard for inspiration and referral for technical details. There are also many books on hand for reference.

You will leave the workshop with a finished piece and will never look at jewellery in the same way again!

Session Length

This is a one day workshop is available on selected Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. The workshop runs from 9.30am – 4.30pm with a lunch break provided.

Guidelines:

This workshop is suitable for individuals 16 years and older. No experience is necessary, so it is ideal for beginners; however challenges can be provided for people who may have acquired some jewellery / metal work skills in the past.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. Workshops run at a size to ensure adequate individual attention. We operate with a a maximum of 4 people. Should minimum numbers not be met, we reserve the right to reschedule your experience for a later date.

Spectators:

Not suitable for spectators.

Weather:

This experience takes place indoors and is therefore not affected by the weather.

Your tutor Sondi has been making and teaching jewellery for the past 20 years. She specialises in Mokume Gane and her custom made jewellery is well loved & collected by lovers of beautiful contemporary jewellery, Australia wide.

    Sondi absolutely made the day, she is one of a kind and really makes it feel like a special experience, highly recommend to anyone looking for something memorable, and the view of the mountains from her amazing property is brilliant! At the end you have a perfect momento to then be able to take away and wear forever - great for girlfriends!!!

    I thoroughly enjoyed the day & felt so privileged that Sondi opened up her home & studio to us, it is in such a wonderful setting. Sondi was a great host, with a fantastic personality & humor, she made me feel very welcome & I learnt so much in such a short space of time. I now have a unique piece of jewelery where I was able to try my newly learnt skills in a creative way & also a good conversation piece for yrs to come. Thank you!
