During your flight simulator experience you will perform a series of maneuvers and flight challenges under the guidance of an experienced instructor. This flight simulator experience is approximately 85% real life and similar styles of cockpits are used in professional pilot training. So if you are interested in a flying career, it is an introduction to the real flight experience at a fraction of the cost. If you are interesting in just having some fun, this experience is equally unbeatable!

The flight simulator features:

• A real aircraft cockpit
• 180 degree, 7.5 m surround screen
• A global navigation database
• Radio and navigation aids
• Full dual controls

The cockpit for this simulator is a Piper Cherokee and can be programmed as a single or twin engine aircraft. The simulator can also be programmed as a Boeing 737 or a F111 strike aircraft.

The fun starts with a 10 minute briefing on the aircraft you are about to fly. You will learn about the instruments & controls, the airport location and the flight challenge ahead. You will then take your place in the pilot’s seat! Your experienced instructor will show you how to read and use the instruments and controls. You are now ready for take-off!

You fly the aircraft through a series of real-life maneuvers. In the cockpit you are surrounded by a 7.5m ‘widescreen’ view of the outside world, displaying a variety of selected locations across from the globe. Look out on the world below you. It will feel like you're flying a real plane!

The aircraft is fixed-based flight training device and as such does not move. 80% of cues for flying training are visual and the widescreen visual system totally immerses you in the simulated flight experience.

After landing the plane a five-minute post flight briefing is conducted by your instructor. You are able to see first-hand your performance statistics and how you measure up as Pilot in Command!

Venue:

Nowra, NSW - approximately two hours drive south of Sydney.

Session Length

This experience is available 2 days a week on either Wednesdays or Saturdays between 10am and 4pm, last bookings taken at 3pm. Please allow 1 hour for the experience. This includes a 10 minute pre-flight briefing, 45 minute flight experience and a 5 minute post-flight debriefing.

Guidelines:

This experience is perfect for anyone who is 12 years of age or older who wants to experience what it's like to pilot a real plane! No experience is necessary as full tuition will be given. Since we use a real aircraft cockpit, access & size restrictions are similar to those of a small family car.

Weather:

The simulation centre is located within Aerospace Training Services facility in a secure area within the museum main hangar and is not affected by weather.!
