Take the first step towards flight training! With this introductory flight in a historic Tiger Moth you’ll learn about the intricacies of flying a plane and experience 30 minutes of flight training! From our hangar in the Hunter Valley, you’ll follow through takeoff with your hands on the controls!

You can choose to go for your training introductory flight in either a Tiger Moth or a Chipmunk. Our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards and are magnificently restored and presented.

When you arrive for your training introductory flight you will be given a preflight briefing. This will be conducted by your qualified flight instructor. You will then be fitted with all necessary flight equipment before climbing into your seat on the plane! If you have chosen to fly in the Tiger Moth you will be sitting in the front seat with the pilot behind you and if you have chosen to fly in the Chipmunk you will take the back seat.

Your instructor will brief you on the basic elements of flight and introduce you to the aircraft’s controls and instruments.

You will be shown the serviceability checks and starting procedures and will ‘follow through the takeoff’ with your hands on the controls!

During the 30-minute flight you will learn the techniques for flying straight and level and the techniques for turning. After completing a series of manoeuvres you will observe the techniques applied to landing the aircraft.

This is an experience you will never forget. Not only will it be your first experience of flying a plane but it will be a flight in one of Australia’s most beautifully restored and presented aircraft!

Upon return to the airport you will have the opportunity to have some photos taken of you with the plane. This could be your first step towards becoming a professional pilot! And if not? Well, at least you will now be able to say that you’ve flown a real plane!

Venue:

Hunter Valley, NSW – approximately two hours north of the Sydney CBD.

Session Length

Flights are available for bookings seven days a week between sunrise and sunset, excluding Christmas Day. The duration of your flight will be 30 minutes however you will need to allow at least 60 minutes for your experience in total.

Guidelines:

This experience is perfect for anyone who wants to get a taste of what it’s like to be a pilot. It is definitely recommended that you bring your camera! Maximum weight limits apply - please contact us to inquire if you are over 110kg.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. We can do group bookings for up to 10 people. You will be on-on-one with your pilot during your flight.

Weather:

This experience may be affected by the weather. In the case of rain or strong winds we may need to reschedule your experience for a later date.

Other Info:

Once booked, your experience provider will send a confirmation email outlining all the details you need to know for the day. It is vitally important you read through all of the details sent as you will be entering a fully operating Military Base, and if rules are broken you will be asked to leave.
