Enjoy the unique experience of silent flight from 3,000 ft in a glider. Fly the glider yourself and bask in the wonderful Victorian countryside below you. This is an experience so serene, you'll be wishing that you never have to land.

You'll start your gliding adventure with your friendly instructor. After some safety instructions and demonstrations you'll take the front seat of your sleek glider. Your instructor will be seated behind you.

This is the time to ask all those questions! After a smooth take off, the glider is released at 3,000 feet to enjoy the unique thrill and tranquillity of silent flight that only gliding can provide. You will take in the magnificent views of the Great Dividing Range (and its stunning mountains including Mt. Buffalo and Mt. Buller) to the south and east and the great plains to the north.

Then, when it's safe to do so and if you are keen, you can fly the glider 'hands-on' and take control after we demonstrate the basics to you in the air. And don't worry: your instructor is always sitting behind you and will not let you do anything unsafe. As the experience comes to a close, you will gently glide to a smooth and short landing, ready to jump off the glider with a huge smile in your face.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

Benalla - approximately 2 hours north of Melbourne on the Hume Highway.

Session Length

Flights are available weekends only and are 22-30 minutes in duration. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Guidelines:

You must weight 105kg or less, with a maximum height of 6'4. Please advise if you have any severe medical condition. There are no restrictions on pregnant women flying.

Numbers:

Only you and the qualified instructor will share the flying: it is strictly a one-on-one experience.

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome to watch you, under supervision from the runway while you fly, or from sheltered spots within the airfield. There will be plenty of photo opportunities!

Weather:

Subject to weather conditions. If the day is cancelled, your flight can be rescheduled for another day.

Other Info:

You will fly a training two-seater glider with a qualified instructor in the back seat, to give you a clear view from your front seat. You will have to sign an indemnity form prior to your flight. Some limited aerobatics may be performed if requested and at extra cost in some cases.

    The whole experience was FANTASTIC. The gliding club members were all wonderful, professional,fun and informative. They really know there job and the area they fly in. Just a fantastic day, something everyone should do at least once.After watching the gliders for 45years it was amazing being up there myself, I even had a fly, with assistance of course. Thanks RedBalloon and the Gliding club.

    I had an absolute great time. My pilot Rob Brown was fantastic. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone else.
