Hot air ballooning is quite magical. Noisy one moment, quiet the next, ever changing, never dull. It's fun, it's crazy, wild yet safe. Even people who are frightened of heights say it's different. Your flight will last about an hour but the memory will last a lifetime.

Ballooning is one of those things people often say “I must do that one day”. Well once you have tried it you’ll probably want to do it again (and again)!

We meet an hour before sunrise. And to experience the sunrise from the Balloon is breathtaking. Even when the clouds hide the sun, the experience is lovely. Mystical even and ethereal. To see the historic township of Strathalbyn from the air will bring out the photographer in you. The valleys and hills are majestic. We can also do things that can't be done in other types of aircraft. Low-flying at low speed, seeing wildlife close-up. Depending on wind speed, we fly up to about 30km in an hour and almost never back to where we took off from. To save a long walk back, the crew follows us with balloon trailers, help us pack up and take us to breakfast.

All outings include sparkling wine, chocolates, orange juice and nibbles followed by cooked breakfast when we get back to town. Everyone that fly’s with us receives a beautiful A4 colored flight certificate with their name on it and signed by the pilot of the day.

Please note: Flights are not available between September and February due to poor weather conditions.

Venue:

Strathalbyn - 50 minutes from Adelaide.

Session Length

Allow approx 4 hours from the time we meet to the end of breakfast. Time in the air is usually approximately an hour depending on weather conditions. Please note: Flights are not as frequently available between September and October or at the peak of summer, weather conditions being less favourable

Guidelines:

Passengers must be independently mobile in case of emergency. Must not suffer from fits/seizures. Our operators advise against taking children under 8 as they do tend to have a short attention span and may spoil the flight for their fellow passengers. Ladies over 26 weeks pregnant should call us.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. There will be other passengers with you in the basket with you during your flight.

Spectators:

Friends are welcome to watch the rigging of the balloon, to follow it as it's flying, to join you and the other passengers at the end of the flight and to come along to the celebratory breakfast for just the cost of the meal.

Weather:

Ballooning can only be done in good weather. The colder the weather, the better it is. Once you have booked we ask you to phone our operators in the late afternoon prior to flying for their GO/NO GO decision. If the forecast includes rain or winds of more than 15 kph, they will not fly.

Other Info:

Cameras are welcome on board. Digital photography now appears to give endless opportunity; however there are finite factors such as memory capacity and battery charge. Don’t get let down, come prepared.

We had a lovely experience. From start to finish. The staff were both professional and friendly and helpful at the same time, covering health and safety issues, answering questions, and giving information. The experience was awesome, I couldn't imagine the feeling of floating above the world, the wondering of "where will we land" in the gully?, in the trees?, and the landing itself so gentle. We felt so safe the whole time, even leaning over and looking underneath, waving to our familes, no feel...

We absolutely loved it. The crew were fantastic and very friendly. The balloon ride was amazing, so smooth and such beautiful views. The whole experience from the cool early morning start, helping with set up of the 'envelope' (balloon), the ride, the champagne and chocolates after landing, pack up and finally a yummy cooked breakfast, was awesome! I highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing this.

I think I can speak for Maureen, she doesn't have a comp. I would say she was absolutely thrilled with her experience and I'm sure will sing your praises loudly to who ever she speaks to, We both enjoyed it fully as did both our familllies following in convoy. It waqs a great 80th birthday gift for me . Thanks to all the staff for their professionalism.

Both Victor and myself thoroughly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. We also appreciate Kate sending us info. on where to stay at Strathalbyn. Ian and Jason to both their credits were both easy going and so cool when we couldn't find a spot to land. Thanks again.

This activity is VERY weather dependent. We had around half a dozen cancellations before we actually got to go up in the balloon. So book it in ahead of time for Autumn, before you're in the middle of Winter cos the good days to go up become far between! SO worth it once you get up there though. So peaceful and beautiful, no engine noises, such a different experience!! We absolutely loved it!! :)
