This magical, award-winning and thought-provoking tour is in the company of Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon. Willie takes guests to visit his ancestral rock art sites, set in stunning countryside high in the hills outside Cooktown and normally inaccessible to the public.

- Walk with Nugal-warra story-keeper, Willie Gordon, on his country and visit six rock art sites, including an ancestral Birth Cave where Willie’s father & grandfather were born.
- Learn the meanings and philosophies behind the paintings & their relevance today.
- Gain an amazing insight into Aboriginal society and spirituality.
- See the land through Willie’s eyes as he shares his vast knowledge of the bush. It’s a great tour for youngsters too, as there’s plenty of hands-on things for them to do.

Venue:
About 45 minutes drive from Cooktown, Queensland.
Session Length
The experience runs for a total of 4 hours. This includes approximately 30 minutes bush walking. Tours depart daily Monday to Saturday. Tour departs from the Guurrbi Meeting Point at 8.30am, and returns to Guurrbi Meeting Point at 12.30pm.
Guidelines:
Participants should be capable of making a 30 minute bush walk on uneven terrain with a couple of short climbs. Therefore tour is not suitable for anybody with mobility issues.
Numbers:
Minimum number of participants is 2 per tour. Maximum tour size is approximately 16 participants with one tour guide. If customers wish to be by themselves private tours are available. Prices on application.
Spectators:
This experience is not suitabe for spectators.
Weather:
It is only when the creeks are up and access to the sites is cut off, does the tour not run due to weather. Otherwise it is on, rain, hail or shine!
