Fishing Trip - Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Fishing Trip - Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Code: HC261
  1. Valid for 12 months
  2. Free exchange

This deep sea fishing trip off Sydney is a great day out for experienced anglers or adventurers alike wishing to tackle the big ones! Watch Sydney shrink to a speck as you travel out into to the deep blue waters of the continental shelf some 45 km offshore.

The waters surrounding Mt Woolnough (or Brown's Mountain) is your destination. In the upwelling around this mountain roam pelagics in the surface layers - marlin, tuna, mahi mahi, sharks and others, depending on the season. Blue Eye, Hapuka, Gemfish and others lurk at the depths from the base 500m to the top of the mountain at 375m.

Using high-tech braid fishing lines, you can do bottom fishing and feel distinct bites even at those depths!

For the pelagic species we will be using 24 and 37kg game fishing gear, with lighter gear for the smaller species. Any marlin or sharks caught will be tagged and released. The rest is fair game - however NSW Fisheries' bag limits apply.

Fish kept will be shared equitably between participants. Bring along a cooler bag or similar in which to take your catch home!

When bottom fishing you'll work as a team with two per reel - and the rewards can be fantastic. You'll also look for gemfish, hapuka and blue-eye cod, just to name a few!

Please note: No guarantee is given that a particular style of fishing will be available on any day. With bottom fishing we are at the mercy of the wind, waves and current and it is not possible to be sure that lines will be able to reach the bottom until conditions at the sea mount have been tested.
