Looking for a new way to see the city of Melbourne and its waterways? Perfect for beginners, this sea kayak tour is the perfect way to get up and close and personal and watch yachts, ferries and ships passing by, while taking in views of Victoria Harbour, South Bank and Westgate Bridge. Whether you choose the afternoon sunlight or wait for the sun to go down for a twilight paddle, this kayak tour is a great way to unwind on the weekend or after work commitments. Your kayak experience begins with a short discussion on the format for the day including lunch break, distance expected to paddle, and weather conditions. You are then kitted up with a PFD, spray deck, paddle jacket, thermals and a paddle before the all important safety briefing including a dry capsize drill. Once you have done a few warm up stretches, you will be paired up into paddling partners. Most sea kayaks are double sea kayaks (Pittaraks) with a couple of single kayaks available for the more experienced paddlers in the group. After going though some basic strokes for 20 minutes (depending on the skill level of group), you'll set out on the adventure paddling as one group. Just relax as you take in stunning Melbourne city views from the water’s edge whilst historical commentary is provided. When the group returns to the start, the gear is packed away and you can change into some warm clothes. After three hours of kayaking, we’re pretty sure you will have worked up a bit of an appetite, so there is plenty of opportunity at the conclusion of the kayak tour to visit one of the many cafes or restaurants surrounding the Docklands area. This tour includes all equipment, snacks and drinks and is a great sampler of what sea kayaking is like but at a gentler pace to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your kayaking experience!
