If you enjoy the leisurely pace of water sports then a dinghy sailing lesson is a great place to start! Enjoy a two hour lesson where you’ll learn the basics of sailing with the help and guidance of your experienced instructor and we’re pretty sure that you’ll be out on the water in almost no time!

Join us for a sailing lesson on Sydney’s Balmoral Beach - an ideal spot to catch the prevailing north-easterly sea breezes!

On the day of your dinghy sailing lesson, you’ll be taught a series of techniques to get you out sailing within two hours! As you are met by your experienced instructor, we will start your session with a brief theory session, and a capsize recovery drill before you hit the water. Next, it’s time to learn how to turn the dinghy and how to sail before hitting the water for some practice.

Our experienced and enthusiastic instructors will either be in the dinghy with you or alongside in our safety boat. The best thing about this beach location is that the local geography acts as a compressor funnelling winds at an average of 5 knots greater than on the coast and the beach is still protected from large swells by Sydney Heads, making it the perfect place for beginners and experienced sailors alike.

You will be surprised at how easy and quickly you will be able to enjoy sailing. For those with more experience we can offer a course tailored to your needs. We will supply all equipment, including a buoyancy aid and wetsuit. Your sailing course notes from the day are available after your dinghy sailing lesson and will be emailed to you so that you can continue to practise your new found skills at your own leisure.

Venue:

Balmoral, NSW – approximately 15 minutes north-east of the Sydney CBD.

Session Length

Lessons are available all year round, with sessions in the morning and afternoon (subject to availability). Please allow 2 hours for the experience and we recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the specified lesson time. Please book at least 3 days in advance of your preferred date.

Guidelines:

You must be a confident swimmer in order to participate in this experience. We will provide you with a buoyancy aid and you will be required to wear this at all times.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. We operate with a maximum group size of 6 people.

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome to watch from the beach.

Weather:

This experience is affected by the weather. In the event of poor weather conditions, such as lightning or no wind, we reserve the right to cancel your experience and reschedule it for a later date. Please contact the supplier if you are unsure if the lesson will proceed.
