The syllabus for the Learn To Sail Course is intended for completion over 16 hours of sailing. We operate with a small group to ensure that everyone feels confident in the skills that they have learnt without the pressures of large groups.

All theory is conducted in the first 4 hours and includes knowledge of relative direction, the compass, sea terms, sail handling, rope work, fire precautions, personal safety, man overboard, flares, rules of the road, meteorology, helmsmanship, engines, plus docking, anchoring, basic navigation and radio, tides and currents.

The remainder of the experience is dedicated to the practical application of what has been learnt.

Learn skills that will enable you to join a race crew with confidence and to skipper your own charter yacht any where in the world

The yacht is a Bavaria 32 with two private double cabins, hot showers, toilet and fully equipped galley.

Gordon, as the person in charge of the boat, was adept at making all feel comfortable and was clearly highly knowledgeable in regard to sailing. This set everyone at ease and made it easier to learn and feel comfortable in what was a challenging environment for those like me who had fairly limited experience.

It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the two days. Weather was good, instructor very knowledgeable and at no time was the course boring or too demanding.
