Learn to sail on NSW' gorgeous Sydney Harbour. On everyone's 'must do' list, sailing is a beautiful, exciting sport that lets you truly experience your magnificent surrounds. Spend three hours experiencing the thrill of steering the race-tuned yachts - learn the basics and be at one with the waves.

The aim of this short course is to introduce newcomers to the wonderful sport of sailing in a safe, controlled way.

The lesson begins with a short crew briefing. Then you get the sails hoisted and head out towards Sydney heads. By the end of the lesson you will have experienced basic crew work, as well as helming on different points of sail.

Enjoy refreshments in the waterside bar or café at Middle Harbour Yacht Club after hours on the harbour - it's a way of life you'll have to get used to!

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

This experience is 3 hours, available most Saturdays from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm.

Guidelines:

Moderate fitness is required! The only other requirement is a minimum age of 18

Numbers:

There will be a maximum of 9 people in your learning group.

Spectators:

Friends, family and spectators can watch comfortably from the Yacht Club's waterside cafe.

Weather:

We operate rain or shine - you're a sailor now! We can provide rainwear if necessary. We'll let you know if the weather is too rough to sail.

    Being near the middle of Sydney it was very difficult to get to and indeed I arrived 20minutes late and missed out. However, they were very happy to rebook me and thereby I easily made it the second attempt and had a wonderful time. I was very impressed they were so willing to rebook.

    We had a great day. Under Duncan's friendly and skillful guidance everyone felt at ease and we were given the opportunity to try out some basic crew work even though we were all new to the experience. The view and what else was happening on the harbour was also really exciting and although we were in the middle of boats of every size and speed we all felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed our introduction to sailing on Sydney Harbour.

    A very enjoyable day. The 'experience' was a Christmas gift. The whole process of interacting with the RedBalloon website, receiving email notifications from RedBalloon and then the company was all very seamless and easy. I would recommend both the activity, the particular company that offered the activity and RedBalloon itself.
